The calendar

Step by step

Organize the preparation of your Equirando month by month.

In February

I CREATE MY TEAM

Riders and leaders of all ages, all enthusiasts are welcome at the Equirando! Remember to create a team that is fairly homogeneous in terms of expectations: nights in tents or in guest rooms, meal breaks at the restaurant or picnics from the bag, the formula you propose must suit the greatest number of people.

The size of the team, meanwhile, will depend on the number of horses capable of hiking for several days that you have, your ability to supervise and the equestrian level of your riders. If you plan to hike with a steward, choose your steward and his vehicle from February.

Finally, present the project to your riders so that they can block their dates as quickly as possible. You can then register online and take advantage of preferential rates.

A change of horse or a withdrawal, do not panic: you can always modify your registration afterwards.

In March

I'M LOOKING FOR MY ITINERARY

The approach to Equirando is free. It's up to you to find your own itinerary to suit your interests and constraints. To make things easier for you, the organizing committee has suggested a number of approach itineraries, available on the website ("itineraries" menu). Involve your riders in creating the itinerary, as it's an excellent way of learning about topography. Two videos summarize what you need to know about this subject when riding, and can be viewed from the Equestrian Tourism playlist on the Fédération Française d'Équitation's Youtube channel.

GeoCheval, the interactive map of equestrian routes, is your best ally in preparing your itinerary!

I'M TAKING PART IN RIDING DAY

If your club is taking part in the Journée de la randonnée équestre on Sunday May 19 with open doors, demonstrations or a ride, why not present your project, your itinerary and your team to the general public? It's an opportunity to share your passion for trail riding, find your future Equirando teammates and, why not, inspire new vocations!

I'M TAKING AN INITIATION TO TREC

An outdoor discipline, the TREC will appeal as much to horseback riders as to those curious to discover horse riding in the great outdoors. Do not hesitate to organize an initiation to the discipline. A Course in Varied Terrain, PTV, will put them in front of several difficulties that they could encounter during a hike. The Orientation and Regularity Course, POR, will allow them to put their knowledge of topography into practice.

In June

I REVISE THE FUNDAMENTALS

The basics of seamanship and saddlery are the fundamentals to know when hiking. Do not hesitate to watch with your riders the two videos which address these themes, they are accessible on the Equestrian Tourism playlist of the FFE Youtube channel, in total 11 videos exist on various subjects!

REMINDER OF THE CHECK-LIST NOT TO FORGET!

In addition to your compass, the tent, the headlamp, the duvet, the pharmacies for everyone and the tools that help out. As for accommodation, you must bring camping gear (tent/motorhome/caravan, pillows, blankets, etc.) and parking gear for your horse (ribbon, stakes, drums). It is recommended to have with you a first aid kit (human and horse), a hoof pick, a sponge, an electric lamp, maps and a compass.

In July

After the visit of the marshal and the veterinarian, you can check the equipment with your riders so that everyone knows what they are carrying in their saddlebags, remember to balance them and choose what they leave in the stewardship vehicle. Finally time to leave! Your riders and you are well prepared, all you have to do is enjoy!
